I don’t know about you, but when my house is in order, I feel like my life is in order. When my house looks like a hurricane just blew through, there is no way I can sit down on the couch and read a book until I’ve picked up and put things back in their place. When I look around and I see everything put away, and the surfaces clean of clutter, I can take a deep breath in and have a sigh of relief that all is as it should be. I am more at peace.
Have you ever thought about your mind in this way? Did you know you can have clutter up there? What is cluttering your mind today, and how can you order it so that you can feel more at peace?
I have a few suggestions for you:
- Become a list maker. Write down the things that are heavy on your mind, that need to be organized or sorted out.[divider scroll_text=””]
- Stay Present. We can fill our minds with so much “stuff” that hasn’t happened yet! Worries, anxieties, and cares about future problems will add to the piles in your head. Choose to bring yourself back to the present moment.[divider scroll_text=””]
- Take Action. Sometimes it means getting off the couch and clearing the clutter from the table. Instead of preparing and preparing some more, take one step of action towards accomplishing the thing that is swirling around in your head.
If doing all three of these at once seems overwhelming, choose one to work on consistently for a while. Once you feel like you can master a second and then a third, go for it! If you need a nudge along the way, or some accountability in the process, I would love to help!
