Accountability….who me?

For some, the word ‘accountability’ makes you squirm in your seat a little bit, perhaps break into a cold sweat for others, and for some, it brings comfort. Accountability comes in many forms and can be both individual or involving others into a commitment you have made that you want to ensure is seen through to its completion.

As much as accountability can be scary, it also provides a stability that could not otherwise be attained. It does not necessarily require another person, but is especially powerful when you bring in another person or group; those individuals will help carry you through the times when you have lost motivation, your excitement, your passion, or your energy to continue on the path you chose.

Here’s the thing about accountability: If you fall short, it is okay. I will say it again- if you fall short of your goal, it is okay! It is how you respond that makes all the difference! A good accountability partner will help remind you why you’re doing what you’re doing. And if you don’t make it there, they can help you process through what happened, what got in your way, and what you are going to do about it moving forward.

If you have a goal that is important enough to you to make a commitment, take the next step and seek out some accountability to bolster you. Remember that it takes many forms, you can be creative with how this looks for you, to ensure your actions align with your words. Your commitment deserves accountability!
